This week’s web Wednesday’s link love focuses on Wedding Favors. Even though wedding favors is a small detail compared to the bigger picture of booking wedding venues, reception and gowns, it is still an important part of any wedding….well, that’s what I think anyway.

I’m pleased to announce the wedding of my beautiful cousin JC and Derrick. This is the Save-the-Date card that I made for them. Congratulations JC and Derrick. I look forwarding to attending your wedding in September! xx

I edited the photo with that ’soft effect’ using Picnik. I heart picnik. It’s such a cool site!

Anyhoo, as I mentioned in my previous post regarding my wedding goal: to lose weight. I am like a blushing bride intent on losing all the unwanted flabs off her bod. It’s worth the sacrifice to be able to fit into my size small-to-medium clothes again! Ugh!

I’ve joined the local women’s gym near my place of work and hopefully this will help me lose the unwanted flab!

Oh, and I’m going to be in Vancouver in late September for the wedding so any readers out there who want to meet up, I’m game!

Web Wednesday - Web Wednesday is reserved for giving some link loving :-) The entry for Wednesdays will focus on finds on the web that are worth linking, ie sales, expos, etc

Thursday Inspiration - Thursday Inspiration will highlight inspirational wedding photos, wedding tips and ideas, etc

Friday Q&A - this day is reserved to answer your questions or discuss a topic of interest

In the Philippines, it’s a tradition to fire off your own fireworks on New Year’s Eve to herald the arrival of well, the new year! It’s something that I’ve always looked forward to as the entire street and neighbourhood and virtually, the entire country is alight with fireworks of all shapes and sizes. The more budget you have, the better the fireworks, of course.

Now that I’m living in New Zealand, I only get to watch fireworks displays at events sponsored by the local council for special occasions like Guy Fawke’s Day or New Year’s Eve.

Won’t it be great to have your own fireworks display at your wedding? Before you decide to do this, though, there are a few things you have to consider:

1. Make sure that the local Council (where you will hold your wedding reception or ceremony) allows public fireworks. There’s no point in arranging for one if it’s not allowed.

2. If the Council allows fireworks shows, ask if you have to apply for a permit to hold one.

3. Consider your budget. Fireworks shows can be expensive.

4. Consider the fireworks’ relevance to your wedding format. If you are holding an indoor wedding where viewing of a fireworks show is an inconvenience to you and your guests (ie you have to walk far to get to watch the show) then perhaps, it’s not practical to hold one.

5. Consider the timing of the fireworks show. When do you want to have it? At the end of the wedding ceremony or somewhere in your wedding reception. Make sure that the people managing the fireworks show know when to fire them off. There’s no point in just taking everyone by surprise as you might not have the impact you desire, ie nobody was ready to watch it or no one realised that they’re meant to watch the fireworks show!)

I’ve attended an garden wedding reception where a fireworks show was arranged by the Groom for his new wife at the end of the reception and it was so sweet….awww….

Seriously, is there a need for wedding planners? I am sure our parents survived and had gorgeous and memorable weddings without the assistance of professional wedding planners so who’s to say we need one now?

Is it because weddings nowadays are more complicated?
