Zara Phillips opened an exhibit, ‘Portraits of Adventure’, at London’s Royal Geographical Society on July 23, 2008. Among the images in the exhibit is this four-meter high portrait of the 27-year-old granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth.
The portrait is among a group of 10 by Alastair Thain. Other giant images include those of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu of Cape Town, marine explorer Fabien Cousteau and Dr. Mae Jemison, the first black woman in space.
The free exhibit will be open until August 3, 2008.

Much is being made of the dress that Princess Anne wore to last weekend’s wedding between Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman. The white and yellow print dress was the same one that the Princess Royal wore to the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, 27 years ago! She even wore the same yellow hat.
In terms of fashion, Princess Anne’s choice seems to be more talked about than even the bride’s gown. Lady Rose Windsor, by the way, wore a gown by London-based Franka Couture. Kate Middleton, whose fashion choices are also scrutinized often, wore a knee-length dress, paired with a light blue jacket and a black fascinator.

Princess Anne is well-known for her frugal ways. It’s not a big surprise for her to re-use a dress she’s already worn before. And anyway, vintage is the new black. So Princess Anne is very much on top of today’s trends.
The British royal family celebrated another wedding last weekend.
Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman got married on July 19, 2008 at the Queen’s Chapel at London’s St. James Palace. The 28-year-old bride is a relative of Queen Elizabeth. Her father is the Duke of Gloucester, the Queen’s cousin. Lady Rose works as art assistant and appears in the credits of the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The groom, 26, is the son of Peter and Gillian Gilman.
Notable attendees at the low-key wedding were Princess Anne, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Peter and Autumn Phillips, Lady Sarah Chatto and Kate Middleton.
Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon celebrated his 35th birthday last July 20, 2008. He is shown here with his wife Crown Princess Mette Marit, daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra and son Prince Sverre Magnus in Flatholmen near Risor, Norway. The family has a new summer house in the area.
Prince Haakon’s full name is Haakon Magnus. He was born in 1973 in Oslo, to King Harald and Queen Sonja. Haakon has an older sister, Princess Martha Louise. Recently, he went on a trip to the arctic with Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Frederik of Denmark. He also participated in WWF’s Green Finger Project, with Princess Mette-Marit.
The Duchess of Cornwall celebrated her 61st birthday last July 17, 2008. She and Prince Charles visited the Organic Allotment at St. James’ Park, London where they were presented with a basketful of produce, which included a giant green cabbage. The British royal couple also enjoyed a carrot cake made with organic ingredients, which Camilla cut with a garden trowel.
Camilla wore exactly the same outfit at her birthday last year: a cream jacket and skirt by designer Anna Valentine, beige LK Bennett heels, watch, bracelet and a flower brooch.
