meat purse by nancy wu

I read that Nancy Wu is a design student, and I kind of figured as much. Why? Because there are two traits design students always seem to have. First, students are not afraid to go way out there with their experiments. Using a dried meat product as fabric for a purse- check. Second, design students are obsessed with popular icons. Twenty years ago when I was in school we all used Rambo and regan as our clownish icons. Today, we look to fashion brands such as Chanel.

As studentish as this purse is, I’ve come to realize that jerky texture is quite nice, and I thank miss Wu for opening my eyes to edible fashion beyond underwear made out of fruit rollups.

arik levy makes a book brush

Arik Levy’s products are always witty and often times pure genius. The book brush is not genius. It’s not even particularly useful. But something about their combination is so fun it’s like watching a bad Frankenstein movie.

Letterpress Poster by Cameron Moll

I’ve never seen a letterpressed piece of architecture before. This is my dream poster. I am an architect, and I collect architectural drawings. I’m also obsessed with typography and letterpress. This poster combines two passions in an intricate and rigorous way. It’s a tour de force in type. Sadly, it’s all sold out.

Fail Bench: Furniture to Make You Insecure
By: Design Crack    14 days 3 hours 31 minutes ago

I saw this bench, and it immediately spawned a thought about dieting and weight loss. I’m getting fatter. I’m not feeling like a real chunky, but I’m slowly creeping up from a slender 190 lbs. (I’m 6′-4" BTW) to something more than this, let’s say. I think the name is interesting because my first thought was the designer named the fail bench because this was a botched project that he or she made, and didn’t want to pass it off as a mistake so they named it "Fail Bench". My more deep seeded meaning for it’s name is that I’ve failed as a human being to get my weight to an acceptable level and I’ve bought this bench to act as my scarlet letter, of sorts. Well, fuck you Fail Bench.

White Fruit Radio: Uber Wabi Sabi
By: Design Crack    14 days 3 hours 40 minutes ago

I’m sorry. I really don’t know what wabi sabi means. I just hear my boss use this term when referring to elegant and refined architecture that brings in a bit of nature into the design. That’s kind of what this radio does. The radio has no knobs or cluttery gizmos sticking out. The radio simply has this ribbed element at the top that almost look like scales. If you stroke the radio just right the volume goes up. If you stoe it again the radio station changes. I don’t know why but I imagine owners of this radio sitting around in white labcoats with this is the middle of a sparten, concrete floored room lit only by bright white fluorescent tubes. Does that make any sense?
