Love interest in Leonardo DiCaprios new film fears exile from Iran

Leonardo DiCaprio had to spend three months in Morocco filming his CIA thriller, “Body of Lies.” But Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, who plays his love interest, could face an even longer exile.

The gorgeous 25-year-old, one of Iran’s biggest stars, is the first Iranian-based actress to appear in a Hollywood film since the 1979 Islamic revolution. She wonders about returning to her homeland now that a court there is weighing whether she broke Islamic law by making the film without permission.

“I had a lot of problems because of this movie,” she told us at Sunday’s New York premiere, where she caught up with co-stars DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Oscar Isaac and director Ridley Scott. “[Iranian officials] took my passport. The intelligence service interrogated me several times. In the end, the judge said, ‘We have to see the movie and then decide what we’re going to do with you.’”

It’s hard to see what would bother them. Farahani plays a nurse who treats DiCaprio’s character, but is wary of his advances, insisting that he first meet her family. She won’t even shake his hand.

Though her passport has been returned, she doesn’t know whether the hard-line government will seize it again if she returns. “I’m on trial,” she said, turning down a waiter offering a glass of wine. The actress, who has been living in France with her husband, Amin Mahdavi, said, “I’m totally in love with Iran. I have family there. But now, if they want to see me, they have to leave.”

Last month, Saudi Arabia’s chief judge threatened to execute satellite broadcast providers who import “deviant” Western movies. It’s no wonder Farahani is reluctant to venture even to relatively liberal Dubai, where “Body of Lies” is to be screened at the country’s film festival.

“I’m going to stay here,” she said. “I lost one opportunity to do a screen test, for ‘The Prince of Persia.’ I’m not ready for that again.”

P.S.: DiCaprio will celebrate his own heritage on Oct. 18, when he’ll be honored by the National Italian-American Foundation in Washington, D.C.

At one point during the US kickoff of her “Sticky and Sweet” tour at the Meadowlands Saturday night, the Material Mom indulged her Republican-hating ways, shouting, “Sarah Palin can’t come to my party. Sarah Palin can’t come to my show. It’s nothing personal.” Then the kabbalah queen told the crowd, “Here’s the sound of Sarah Palin’s husband’s snowmobile when it won’t start,” followed by a loud screeching noise.

R. Kelly seeks $3.4 million from tour promoter

R. Kelly has won a $3.4 million award against his former tour promoter and is asking a Los Angeles judge to help him collect.

R. Kelly Touring, which represents the singer, filed court documents on Monday seeking a judge’s confirmation of the award an arbitrator granted against Georgia-based Rowe Entertainment last month.

Kelly’s company claimed that Rowe Entertainment and owner Leonard Rowe failed to pay him in full for shows scheduled for late last year and early 2008. An arbitrator agreed with Kelly’s claims. Documents show Rowe disputed the arbitration, but did not offer any defense during a recent hearing.

An after-hours phone message left for Rowe’s attorney in Atlanta was not returned Monday.

Kelly won three Grammys in 1997 for the song “I Believe I Can Fly,” but is known for his sexually charged music. He was acquitted earlier this year of child pornography charges and is scheduled to release a new album before year’s end.

Singer Ne-Yo recently won a $700,000 judgment against Rowe after he sued because he was dropped from Kelly’s tour after only two shows.

Kanye West: Mom Taught Me to Not Get Hung Up on the Small Things
By: Celebrity Mound    0 days 3 hours 59 minutes ago
Channel: Celebrities

Nearly a year after mother Donda’s passing, Kanye West says she continues to help him change his stubborn ways.

In 2007, the rapper famously declared that he’d never appear on the MTV Video Music Awards after his performance of “Stronger” did not take place on the main stage.

He had a change of heart this past year.

“Well, a lot of things changed and, you know, with my mom passing … one of her goals was, she really supported me and she always wanted me to be the best that I could be and not get hung up on the small things,” the rapper says on Tuesday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show. “So, with her not being here to try and talk me into doing things, I … just try do things she would want me to do.”

DeGeneres recalled how Donda — who died last November at age 58 from plastic surgery complications — often attended Kanye’s show tapings.

“She was just lovely, and you were as close to her as I am with my mom,” she said.

The rapper’s interview wasn’t all somber, however.

Not only did he premiere his new video, “Love Lockdown,” he praised DeGeneres for having “really great style.”

Said the rapper, “Seriously, this is one of the people you should look at whenever youre trying to figure out how to put together an outfit.”

In the video for her single Womanizer, which is scheduled to be premiered in the U.S. on Friday, the rehabilitated singer displays three dramatically different looks.

And in sizzling shots she ditches her trademark blonde locks for a dark gothic style.

In wet look trousers and a PVC waistcoat that displays her toned stomach the 26-year-old poses as a waitress with attitude.

Her next scene takes in the boardroom as the singer pulls on a sharp bobbed wig and glasses.

The shot shows the brunette her dominating a city worker as she pins him down in his chair.

In her third image change Britney is more recognisable as a tousled blonde.

She shows off her enviable figure in a lace and satin wrap in a tousled bedroom scene as she appears to be ticking off a lover.

Womanizer was released in America last week and is the first single off her album Circus, which will be released on December 2 - her 27th birthday.

Britney has been on the mend since her father took control of her business affairs in February.

Before then she has suffered a very public meltdown and it was thought her career was in irreversible decline.
